Cookie policy

Last updated: June 28, 2026.

This document describes how the lagiga.info website uses cookies and similar technologies. The website is published by the GIGA'GAMES association (a French not-for-profit association under the 1901 law). For any question, you can contact us through the form available at https://www.lagiga.info/contact.

1. What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file placed and stored on your device (computer, tablet, phone) when you browse a website. It allows the site to recognise your browser, remember certain information (for example your preferred language) and ensure the proper functioning of navigation. On its own, a cookie cannot identify you by name.

A distinction is made between so-called « strictly necessary » or « functional » cookies, which are essential to the service or helpful for your browsing comfort, and audience-measurement or advertising cookies, which track your behaviour. lagiga.info primarily uses the first category. Google Analytics 4 belongs to the second category and is only activated with your consent.

2. Cookies used on lagiga.info

The site sets strictly necessary or functional cookies, and, if you accept, Google Analytics 4 audience measurement cookies:

NamePurposeDuration
NEXT_LOCALE (language preference)Remember the chosen language (French or English) so the site is displayed in the right language on your future visits.12 months
Session / security cookie (where applicable)Technical cookie ensuring the proper functioning and security of navigation.Duration of the session
ga_consent (local storage)Stores your choice to accept or decline Google Analytics. No expiry (can be cleared manually)
_ga, _ga_* (if accepted)Google Analytics 4 cookies used to distinguish users and measure audience.2 years

3. Audience measurement analytics (with your consent)

lagiga.info uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4), a service provided by Google LLC, only if you give your consent via the banner shown on your first visit. GA4 collects aggregated browsing data (pages visited, duration, source) to help improve the site. Data is anonymised: no individual profiling is carried out.

If you decline or have not yet responded to the banner, no GA4 cookie is set. You can change your choice at any time by clearing site data in your browser (the ga_consent key in local storage), which will cause the banner to reappear on your next visit.

To learn more about how Google processes this data, see the Google Privacy Policy.

4. Consent and your rights

Strictly necessary cookies (language, session) are exempt from prior consent under the CNIL guidelines. The GA4 cookie, however, requires your prior agreement. A banner is displayed on your first visit and allows you to freely accept or decline.

5. Managing or deleting cookies

At any time you can view, accept, block or delete the cookies stored on your device by changing your browser settings. The procedure varies depending on the browser:

  • Google Chrome: Settings menu, Privacy and security section, then Cookies and other site data.
  • Mozilla Firefox: Settings menu, Privacy and security section, then Cookies and site data.
  • Safari: Settings menu, Privacy section, then management of website data.
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings menu, Cookies and site permissions section.

Your browser's help menu will tell you the exact procedure. Please note: deleting the language preference cookie will reset that choice on your next visit.

6. More information
